#89: Imagine You Only Have 10 Years to Live …

August 7, 2017 By Paula Pant 4 Comments

Afford Anything Podcast Episode 89 Imagine You Had 10 Years Left to Live

Imagine you’re financially secure. You have enough money to support your family and pursue your dreams. You enjoy fulfilling work with a reasonable schedule. What would you do with both your time and money?

Next, imagine you’re financially independent. Your investments create enough money to support yourself and your family. What would you do?

Okay, let’s shake things up.

Imagine you visit your doctor, who tells you that you only have 5-10 years to live. You’ll never feel sick, and you’ll have no advance notice of the moment of your death. Your financial position is the same as it is today. What would you do?

Now imagine the same scenario as before — you still have 5-10 years to live — but in this scenario, you have unlimited funds. What would you do?

What if you only had 24 hours? What would you do? And what regrets would you have, if any?

These are 5 of 11 probing questions about money and life that I asked a crowd of 100+ people at the World Domination Summit.

I reveal the rest of the questions — and describe several of the answers I heard from the audience — on today’s episode. Get Rich Slowly founder J.D. Roth also joins me on this episode to talk about how to build a more fulfilling life.

I put together a PDF that contains all 11 questions from this episode, along with space where you can write your answers directly.

Great episode. I loved that you had JD on there. Lot’s of thought provoking stuff.
I love the questions that are similar to: what would you do if you only had 1 day to live?
Let’s focus it down to: What would you do if you only had 1 hour to live?
How about: What would you do if you only had 1 minute to live?
But for the ultimate in personal clarity, just answer this: What would you do if you only had ONE SECOND to live?!?!
Whatever your answer is, just do that one thing for the rest of your life. BINGO! 🙂

One day I even Imagined that I have only 1 year left to live. Sad I was but created a detailed plan for that only year. To be honest, it wasn’t about saving, it was mostly about spending))

In case you are still looking for the answer…yes. You can invest in ETFs in a Vanguard Roth account. So that might be the best option to save on fees.

The losers in life are those who think they are doing something they like but in-reality just for the money.
